Home Security, House Locks & Keys
Your home is only as secure as your locks. Most burglars enter through unlocked or inadequately secured doors and windows.
- 34% use the front door.
- 22% break in through the back door.
- 23% crawl through a first-floor window.

Many older locks are easy to pick or bypass altogether. If your locks date back to the last century, it may be time for an upgrade. Call us.
And while we’re upgrading the security of your home, we’ll replace any keys that show signs of wear and tear.
Garage Locks
Most garages have a side door that leads into the house. It can be a weak point for home invasion.
We’ll place a heavy-duty deadbolt on your garage door and provide you with high-security keys.
An overhead garage door is also a tempting target for burglars. We’ll install a lock that makes it impossible to lift from the outside.
Residential Electronic Locks & Key Pads
Electronic locks are the ultimate security convenience; a numeric keypad or fingerprint scanner controls access to your home. There are no keys to lose on your morning run!
Fobs are another good electronic option. They emit a secure signal to open the door lock and never have to leave your pocket or purse.
Apartment complexes use fobs to control access to gym and laundry facilities. The same high-security electronic locks that keep commercial buildings safe are available for residential use.
Balport’s lock technicians are:
- Licensed, bonded, insured & background checked
- Experienced & trained in the latest lockout techniques
- Available 24-7 for emergency lockout services
- Friendly & professional

House Lock Changes & Installation
High-Security Locks & Keys
As their name suggests, high-security locks and keys offer the best security. These commercial-grade locks are extremely difficult to pick or break and are often installed in government buildings and other sensitive areas.
They’re just as effective in protecting your home. We install them in various configurations, including :
- Deadbolts: A deadbolt is distinct from a spring bolt. Only a key or thumb turn from the outside can rotate the cylinder, making a deadbolt more resistant to forced entry than a spring bolt lock.
- Disc tumbler locks: Also known as ABUS locks, these have hardened steel inserts in the face of the lock to make them pick-resistant.
- Keyless entry systems: A keyless entry lock uses an electronic keypad, app, or fob instead of keys.
- Mortise locks: A mortise lock fits into a pocket (mortise) cut into the door, allowing a longer and heavier mortise box to slide into the door frame and offering superior protection.
- Knob locks: These fit over a knob on the door. They’re ideal for interior doors, or you can install them in conjunction with a deadbolt for added security.
Sliding Glass Door Locks
Sliding glass doors are one of the weakest points in most homes. We’ll install a heavy-duty deadbolt that can’t be opened from the outside.
Window Locks
23% of all illegal entries happen through ground-level windows. Your options for window locks include:
- Keyed window locks: A keyed lock is the most secure type of window lock. Only a key can open it.
- Keyless window locks: These locks are more convenient but less secure than keyed locks. Anyone can open the window from inside.
- Friction window locks: A friction lock uses friction to keep a window closed. It’s not as secure as a keyed or keyless lock, but it’s better than nothing.
